Celebrating the pinnacle of responsible breeding with the KC Breeders’ Competition

Many congratulations to the winners of the Kennel Club Breeders’ Competition at Crufts 2019 - Allmark Australian Shepherd.

With her team of four Allmark Australian Shepherds, Angie Allan’s team won what is considered by many to be the most prestigious competition for breeders, sponsored by Agria Pet Insurance. Cylus, Vogue, Alvin and Kauto – all descendants of Champion Allmark Careless Whisper JW, were chosen by judge and well-known Bulldog and French Bulldog breeder, Paul Harding, against some very stiff competition in the final from 34 other entries.

What's special about the Breeders’ Competition is that it looks for a breeder that can exhibit three or four dogs from the same line, all of which demonstrate exemplary health and the very best breed attributes shown to be continuing from one generation to the next.

Angie, breeder of 42 years, said, “Winning the Breeders’ Competition is a fantastic achievement as we were up against many of the very top breeders. We’ve worked extremely hard to be here, focusing on producing a type with the same attributes that demonstrate exceptional examples of the breed.

“We’re absolutely thrilled to win the Breeders’ Competition and are off to celebrate!”

The competition is of great importance to Agria, a specialist pet insurer with a significant breeder following. This has developed through the extensive insight and support offered to breeders all year round through the popular Agria Breeder Club – of which Angie – and every other placed breeder in the Breeders’ Competition, are members.

Members can activate 5 weeks free Agria Pet Insurance policies for the puppies they breed ready for when they leave for their new homes - as well as benefitting from £10 every time an owner continues this cover to a full lifetime policy. Agria also offers breeders specialist Breeding Risk cover, and access to an exclusive member-only Agria Breeder Facebook group.

Angie said, “Being part of the Agria Breeder Club is really important to me as a breeder of champion dogs. It’s crucial for dogs to have pet insurance, so knowing my puppies leave me with a policy already in place is very reassuring. It’s about more than an insurance policy though; I trust Agria as I’m confident that they’re experts who genuinely understand responsible breeders and what we work hard to achieve.”

Sarah White, Agria Pet Insurance Breeder Channel Manager, said: “I have absolutely loved watching and supporting all of the placed teams at championship shows and through to the final of the Breeders’ Competition. It’s been a pleasure for Agria to sponsor the competition again in 2019 and we were so thrilled to see all the finalists in the main arena at Crufts. The team at Agria is delighted for the groups that made it to the final – it’s such a huge achievement and really showcased those breeders that put their heart and soul into maintaining the very best of the breed they are so passionate about.

“Many congratulations to Angie and her winning team of stunning Allmark Australian Shepherds. We couldn’t be happier for her and I was so delighted to present such a hardworking, dedicated breeder with the prize. I am proud to be a part of British dog breeding with our country's reputation for producing some of the very best dogs of the highest standard in the world – something that was very apparent in the Breeders’ Competition.”

Agria Pet Insurance Breeder Channel Manager, Sarah, has been a part of the dog world for most of her life; breeding, showing and judging. She judges all breeds at open show level, with her main passion being Borzois - which she breeds and shows under the family affix, Mischran.
