World Environment Day - Agria's 2024 Sustainability Impact Report

Today is World Environment Day, and we are excited to unveil Agria’s 2024 Sustainability Impact Report.

Protecting our earth and reducing our impact on the environment we share with our pets, and each other, is a core part of our mission. Today we’re proud to share our milestones and new initiatives that are supporting our commitment to a greener, healthier planet.

We are delighted to have been certified as a Carbon Positive business for the third year running and we take great pride that environmental sustainability and animal welfare are at the heart of our business. But we know we still have a long way to go.

That’s why we’re thrilled to share that we have set ambitious science-based targets to align with the Paris Agreement's goals. By 2030, we aim to reduce our Scopes 1 and 2 emissions by 42%, and by 2040, we plan to achieve a 90% reduction across Scopes 1, 2, and 3, using 2023 as our baseline. Our commitment to the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) is now submitted for validation, marking a significant step in our climate action journey.

Throughout the last year, our carbon calculators for paws and hooves have empowered over 2,000 pet owners to manage their pets' environmental impact. Through our ‘Offset Your Pet’ initiative, we’ve balanced over 168 tonnes of carbon – that’s equivalent to the footprint of over 250,000 takeaway coffees!

We’ve cut our travel emissions significantly, reducing car travel by 257,800 km since 2019, and thanks to our ‘Go Green’ project, over 80% of our amazing customers now choose digital communications from the start of their policy. This shift has saved over 51 tonnes of CO2e, equivalent to 25 return flights from London to New York.

We have always believed in taking proactive steps towards creating a sustainable future, not just for our pets, but for the world at large. As part of this commitment, we are proud to have planted over 3,500 trees both in the UK and across the world. We’ve also distributed 11,000 bee-friendly seed packets to veterinary practices, fostering local biodiversity.

This year also sees us supporting the Woodland Trust, and sponsoring our 'Agria Acre' located in the National Forest. This ancient woodland site serves as a sanctuary for diverse wildlife, including bats, badgers, fungi, wildflowers, and many bird species. The Agria Acre is dedicated to all the special pets who enrich our lives, and is a space to appreciate the connection between our environment and the well-being of pets and wildlife.

Here at Agria, our commitment to sustainability is driven by our love for pets and the environment they depend on. Every action we take, no matter how small, contributes to a healthier planet.
