Claimed and Shamed
In our case study, the policyholder claimed for £2,500 for the death of their puppy under their 5-week free policy. The claims team suspected that the puppy had been ill prior to the effective date of the policy, which raised suspicions the policy had been activated knowing the puppy was already unwell. Due to the various discrepancies and suspicions, the appeal was passed to Financial Crime to investigate.
And verbal evidence, it was proved that the policyholder had colluded with the breeder in providing a falsely dated signed document and both parties had been dishonest in the information they had provided to support the claim and appeal of the declined claim.
They were informed that they are no longer welcome to offer or have insurance with us and have been reported to the police and other appropriate authorities
